Ingredients for Candied bacon
  1. 6 slices thick cut bacon
  2. 1/4 cup brown sugar
  3. 1/4 cup maple syrup
  4. 1/2 tbsp ground cloves
  5. 1/2 tbsp ground cinnamon
Ingredients for Bacon flavored whipped cream
  1. 2/3 cup of heavy whipping cream
  2. 1/2 cup of heavy whipping cream
  3. 3 thick cut slices of bacon
  4. 1 tbsp sugar
  5. vanilla extract
  6. ground cinnamon
Directions for Candied bacon
  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. Lay bacon in foil lined pan.
  3. Combine everything else in bowl and mix. Put mixture on bacon.
  4. Put in oven for 25-30 minutes. Will be done when most of the grease is cooked out, this will allow it to harden (obviously).
  5. When done, remove immediately from pan and place on new sheet of foil. Move them around a bit while they cool to avoid stickage.
Directions for Bacon flavored whipped cream
  1. Combine 2/3 heavy whipping cream and bacon in a small pan. Bring to simmer. Allow to cook into thick mixture (about 20 minutes). DO NOT allow to boil, milk will burn. Toss bacon, allow mixture to cool (about 1 hour).
  2. Begin whipping the 1/2 heavy whipping cream. Once it starts thickening, add 1 tbsp of sugar, a couple drops of vanilla extract, and a dash of ground cinnamon (what do you say a dash is? 1/8 of a tsp? I dunno). Continue whipping until it looks like whipped cream…
  3. Incorporate the bacon mixture from step one. Stir in for a couple minutes. DO NOT over whip it.
Notes
  1. Serve immediately… trust me. On top of pumpkin pie would be delicious!

The journey down the bacon paved path began with a Valentine Bake Sale at work. Bacon Roses, Bacon Chocolates; and the deluge of Bacon Recipes began. So. Gotta blog all these good bacon scrumptiousnesses and this is just the beginning. The plan is to update the Geeky Food Blog with new recipes and articles of interest.
