  1. 1 pack “just add water” pie crust (should be enough for two 9 inch pies)
  2. 1 pack bacon
  3. Brown sugar to taste
  4. Cinnamon (optional)
  5. Butter, softened
  1. Prepare your pie crust, I used the Sara Lee mix where you just have to add water because I hate making pie crust from scratch.
  2. Cook the bacon until it’s about halfway cooked but still soft, if you bake it this is about 7-10 minutes at 375. After the bacon cooks you will raise the temperature to 400 for the snails.
  3. While the bacon is cooking roll out the pie crust, make sure to coat your surface with a dusting of flour and dust some on top of the crust. If you have enough space you can roll it all out at once, or if needed cut it in half and roll them out separately. You want a rectangular shape when rolling the crust and you’re looking for it to be roughly 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch thick.
  4. Coat the top surface of the pie crust with a little bit of the softened butter and then dust it with brown sugar, the amount of sugar you use will vary depending on how sweet you want the finished product, about ½ cup should do the job.
  5. Now you can either lay the bacon out on the pie crust, or what I’ve found to work better is to cut it into little pieces and spread it over the pie crust, once the crust is covered pick a side and roll it into as tight a cylinder as possible.
  6. Take a sharp knife and cut half inch pieces off the end of your pie crust cylinder and place them on a greased baking sheet leaving just a little bit of space between each one.
  7. Bake at 400 for 10-15 minutes or until the brown sugar has caramelized and the tops of the snails are golden brown.

The journey down the bacon paved path began with a Valentine Bake Sale at work. Bacon Roses, Bacon Chocolates; and the deluge of Bacon Recipes began. So. Gotta blog all these good bacon scrumptiousnesses and this is just the beginning. The plan is to update the Geeky Food Blog with new recipes and articles of interest.
